Ayn Rand wrote, "Every major horror of history was committed in the name of an altruistic motive. Has any act of selfishness ever equalled the carnage perpetrated by disciples of altruism."
Duff McDonald reports that Sweden, home of Ikea, Volvo, Baby Bjorn, Spotify and others (a super successful country with just 10,000,000 residents) has established some of the rules of the game for its organizations. If, for example, the pay gap between top and bottom gets too big at a company, they get fined. (But worth noting that Ikea, the world's biggest furniture retailer, doesn't pay nearly enough taxes...)
